Workshop at Animayo International Film Festival
(Gran Canaria, Spain, 2024)

In May 2024, Kateryna had the honor of giving a masterclass at one of Europe’s most prestigious animation festivals — the Animayo International Film Festival in Gran Canaria. During the event, she shared the story behind the creation of “Loving Vincent” — the world’s first fully hand-painted feature film using oil paints — and also talked about our new project, “The Peasants,” which she is currently working on at BreakThru Films studio. The film is based on the Nobel Prize-winning novel “The Peasants” by Władysław Reymont. She spoke about the unique technique of oil paint frame-by-frame animation, the language of painting in cinema, working with color, light, and texture, and also shared her personal impressions, experience, and practical advice.
The interaction with participants, insightful questions, and the open atmosphere made this day truly unforgettable.
